Hello, February
Conference play is heating up and we still have thrilling non-conference matches. January was fun, but February looks even better!
Time sure flies when you are having fun. We are now a month into the 2024 Men's Volleyball season. Yesterday, the 200th match was played. Technically, there have been 207 matches so far, but who is counting? (Me, apparently.)
Since I told you I would follow up on this from time to time, I wanted to let you know the home-court win percentage is currently sitting at 67%. Playing at home is always preferable for increasing your chances of winning.
It's Conference Time!
Yesterday marked the first MIVA matchup of the year. Lewis now sits atop the conference rankings after their victory. Today, we get another MIVA matchup, and it looks like a great one. Ball State will host Loyola, and VBelo has it super close. With just a 55% chance of winning, VBelo thinks this one could go either way. Sure we only get one match today, but it is a good one!
In recent years, the MIVA has been full of tough competition and thrilling upsets. This year, the MIVA is now the largest conference in the country with 9 total teams. Adding Queens into the mix will likely add to the beloved MIVA mayhem. One of the nine teams will not make it to the post-season, so every match matters even more.
In the coming days and weeks, more conferences will get into the action. We still have some interesting non-conference matchups and tournaments, so this time of the year has a little bit of everything. In February, rotations are getting in grooves and we are getting a clearer picture of these teams. The more matches, the more data, the more we can know about 2024.1 It's a great time.
