Favorites Win & Other Things
The early part of the week has been filled with one-sided VBelo projections. But who will pull off the upset? Also, some small announcements.
Yesterday, we had three matches that were all won by teams with a >70% chance. Favorites are favorites for a reason. They typically win more often than not. Sure, it is less exciting than a major upset. But upsets wouldn't mean anything if there weren't favorites.
Today, we have a similar-looking slate of projections. The one standout is Queens and Belmont Abby. Queens has a slight advance even though they are on the road. Belmont Abbey currently has a five-match losing stream to the Royals going back to 2021. Will the Crusaders be able to snap that streak? I would be surprised if Belmont Abbey didn't take at least one set in this match, if not more.
Housekeeping Items
I just wanted to let you know about a few miscellaneous items. For starters, the VBelo Report now has its very own domain. I tried to make it as easy as possible. You can now get to this newsletter, the archives, and other links by visiting: www.vbelo.report
Related to that, you can now email me at tj@vbelo.report with questions, comments, or funny jokes.
I would love to do a mailbag-type post one of these days and that is where you come in. What questions do you have? It can be about volleyball, the VBelo model, this newsletter, what I think of the Oscars nominations1, or anything else. No guarantee I will have an answer to every question, but I would love to know what you are wondering about.
You can reach me in a lot of ways:
