Wednesday Match Projections
Straight to the point . Match projections for some really interesting matches today.
I am trying something a little different today. Below, as usual, are all the matches from yesterday and today. The different part is that I want to say a brief sentence or two about each one. Let me know what you think. (It’s okay if you aren’t a fan of it. I can take it.)
Don’t let the format fool you though. These matches are fantastic. We even get a top-ten matchup on a Wednesday!
Match Recaps
ConfCarolinas
North Greenville (69%) def. Belmont Abbey (31%)
3-1 (21-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-22)
NGU is constantly a threat in the Conference Carolinas. They lost in their conference finals last year, so starting conference play with a win is exactly what they wanted.
Erskine (69%) def. Emmanuel (31%)
3-1 (26-28, 25-20, 25-16, 25-22)
Kacper Rybarczyk (Erskine) is a force to be reckoned with. He finished the night with 18 kills, 5 aces, and 8 digs.
MIVA
Loyola Chicago (42%) def. Purdue Fort Wayne (58%)
3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-16)
Loyola was led by
not Paker Van BurenJake Read with 16 kills. These Ramblers cannot be underestimated.
Non-conference
Sacred Heart (80%) def. Dominican (20%)
3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-16)
This was the second match in a row where Sacred Heart has hit over .400! It is also their 4th match in a row with exactly 7 aces.
Fort Valley State (62%) def. Talladega College (38%)
3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-12)
From what I can tell, FVSU might be the only D-I/II program regularly running a 6- 2 offense. I am a fan.
Missouri Baptist (23%) def. Maryville (77%)
3-1 (25-21, 22-25, 25-19, 25-16)
The future looks bright for Maryville as their lead hitter, Luke Kraft, is just a Freshman. He led the Saints with 10 kills yesterday.
Match Projections
MIVA
Ohio State (64%) vs Lewis (36%)
Basically every MIVA matchup is worth watching. Ohio State holds the overall series edge at 39-27, but Lewis has won 7 of the last 10.
Non-conference
Stanford (14%) vs Hawai'i (86%)
Who isn’t excited for this matchup? Will this be Stanford’s first loss? Or will Hawaii’s 9-match winning streak against the Cardinal be snapped?
UC Merced (4%) vs CSU Northridge (96%)
CSUN has put up some impressive wins this year. They should be able to handle UC Merced and maybe even give Kyle Hobus’s shoulder a little rest.
Southern California (17%) vs UC Irvine (83%)
Both of these teams are looking to stand out in very competitive conferences. They are both hungry for wins so this could get interesting.
American International (32%) vs Rivier (68%)
In just their third year, AIC is looking to find their groove this season and snap their 5-match losing streak.
Lindenwood (71%) vs Missouri S&T (29%)
This is the second ever meeting of these two teams and the first time at Missouri S&T. The Miners have two of the most underated players in the counrty in Nate Meyer & Aaron Sallade.
Descriptors work for me.
Ramblers looked great last night. Never much doubt.
