Let’s start off with an apology. In yesterday’s newsletter, I said there were only 2 matches, but that was not correct. There was a third match that I missed: King at Emmanuel. Not only was this a conference match, but King was in a three-way tie for 3rd place in the Conference Carolinas. I said “was” because they were able to move up ½ game by defeating Emmanuel in 4 sets. In an impressive blocking performance, Kellan Kennedy (King) tied his season-high with 9 blocks!
Over in the MIVA, the action did not disappoint. Loyola was able to hold off Lewis to get the sweep and remain perfect at home this season. Purdue Fort Wayne was able to hang on and avoid the reverse sweep by winning in 5. This was the Mastodon’s 6th Cinco Sets match this season, which is tied for the second most.1 They are 3-3 in those matches.
There are tons of matches today and every conference will be taking the court. There are some really interesting matchups all across the country with potential postseason implications. I will be keeping my eye on the MPSF today as that conference is stacked and each and every win seems to matter at this point.
