Long Beach with the statement win in Hawaiʻi. The Rainbow Warriors were swept for the first since January 29, 2022 (at Ball State) and suffered only their second loss of the year. The Beach were unstoppable as they hit .484% for the match and hit over .500% in Sets 1 & 2. They also out-blocked Hawaiʻi 7-3 to keep the Rainbow Warriors in check. Hawaiʻi looked a little sluggish on the court and Long Beach looked like they had their eyes set on the national tournament. This was a recipe for a big upset on the island.
Grand Canyon is now the only one-loss team in the country after their sweep of Princeton. Charleston also got back in the win column with a sweep of Purdue Fort Wayne. We have some great teams this year and that is super exciting.
Today we have a ton of matches. Yes, we have the Long Beach/Hawaiʻi rematch and it will be worth staying up for (even on the east coast). All 8 teams in the MIVA will also be taking the court which is sure to deliver some great matches. In the MPSF, Stanford will look to bounce back after a brutal loss to UCLA. Not to mention the NEC, SIAC, and tons of non-conference matches. Another great weekend with tons of matches. You gotta love it.
