I don’t know about you, but I am still buzzing from all of the excitement this past weekend. With the postseason fully formed, let’s dive into some projections. Today, I am going to look at the tournaments that have matches on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. That means Conference Carolinas, EIVA, MIVA, & MPSF. The rest will come tomorrow.
Conference Tournament Simulation Methodology
For each tournament, I run a simulated version of the matches through VBelo. In total, I run 50,000 simulations to capture a complete picture of the likely outcomes. The code counts each time a team advances to the next round and if they eventually win the tournament. After counting all of the outcomes, we are able to see how likely each tournament outcome is (in a percentage).
Conference Carolinas Tournament Projections
Tournament Format

Six of the eight teams make the postseason. The top 2 seeds receive a bye to the semifinals. The two quarterfinal matches are played at the higher seed. The semifinals and finals will be played at King University.
Projections
This conference is wild. North Greenville is the clear favorite as they basically have a 50/50 chance of winning. Even though King is the #4 seed, they will be playing all of their potential matches at home so VBelo likes their odds. Honestly, aside from NGU, this tournament could go in just about any direction. This is going to be an exciting one!
EIVA Tournament Projections
Tournament Format

All six teams make the postseason. The top 2 seeds receive a bye to the semifinals. All matches are played at the #1 seed which is Penn State again this year.
Projections
No surprise here. Penn State is the heavy favorite. Let’s not forget that they were the heavy favorites last season as well and they ended up getting upset and missing out on the national tournament. I wouldn’t count on that happening again though.
MIVA Tournament Projections
Tournament Format

All 8 teams make the tournament and no one receives a bye. The higher seed is the home team for each match. We are now in the semifinals!
Projections
Ball State and Ohio State look to be on a collision course for the finals. Standing in their way are a tough Lewis side and a McKendree team that knows what it takes to pull off an upset. The MIVA is great for drama. So really, it feels like anything could happen on Wednesday.
MPSF Tournament Projections
Tournament Format

The MPSF is the only conference with an odd number of teams. Instead of having the top 6 made the tournament, all 7 teams advance to the postseason. The #1 seed gets a bye to the semifinals while the other 6 teams play in the quarter finals. The #1 seed plays the lowest remaining seed and the other two teams play each other.
Projections
Another unsurprising projection with UCLA as the clear favorite. From how they have been playing, it will take something incredible to stop them this year. The Pepperdine/GCU match will be particularly interesting as both of those teams have huge offensive options at their disposal.
Match Recaps
No matches yesterday.
Match Projections
