Yesterday we passed 700 matches for the season. By the season’s end, it looks like we will have a little over 800 total matches. One of the fun parts of growing the game is growing the schedule.
The exciting match from yesterday was the fantastic IVA matchup between Missouri S&T and Maryville. The first-year program of Missouri S&T won their final match of the season to finish at 12-9. As of April 4th, they are ranked 48th in RPI having played the 6th easiest schedule. These numbers seem rather harsh and (unsurprisingly) I think VBelo represents the strength of their season better. Currently they sit at 39th in terms of their VBelo rating, right behind UC San Diego. Regardless of all of this, I want to say thank you to the Miners for a great season and for adding to this wonderful sport. We are all better because of you.
Just 3 matches today but they are all conference matches. The Conference Carolinas has 2 matches and right now it feels like every match has the potential for an upset. In terms of conference standings, we have #1 (North Greenville) versus #8 (Emmanuel) and #2 (Belmont Abbey) versus #5 (Lees-McRae). The battle right now is for the top spot so any upset could have important seeding implications.
We are getting close to the postseason, which means it is about time to fire up the tournament projections. Am I excited? Yes. Yes, I am. Also, I will try to update the Season Stats and RPI charts daily with less than 2 weeks to go in the regular season.
