Yesterday was brought to us by the word “predictable.” We are late in the season and VBelo has a pretty good sense of the teams by now. Of the 19 matches yesterday, only 2 were won by a team with less than a 50% chance of winning. This is pretty remarkable.
One of those matches was D’Youville pulling off the 5-set upset over St. Francis Brooklyn in the NEC. I know we don’t need further evidence of how exciting the NEC has been this season, but we got it anyway. Also, Daemen held off a strong challenge from Long Island to take the lead in the NEC with a 5-set win. This is essentially the most exciting NEC drama we could hope for and I am loving it.
Over in the SIAC, Edward Waters defeated rival Central State to sweep the season series. This is all part of their revenge tour for losing against Central in the SIAC championship match last season. It wasn’t too surprising that EWU won (41% from VBelo), but it was surprising that it was a sweep at Central State. Edward Waters is not messing around and I think they are really building a great program. These two SIAC teams are positioning themselves incredibly well for the future.
We have another loaded schedule today. Every team in the Big West, Conference Carolinas, EIVA, MIVA, and NEC will be competing in conference matches. After all of the conference chaos settles, tomorrow might be a good time to look at some RPI and VBelo rankings. Something to look forward to!
