3 Quick Observations
Top-Two Two Thousand - We have our strong frontrunners for the top two seeds in the national tournament: UCLA and Hawaii. These are the only two teams to reach the 2,000 mark this season. The chances of one of these teams winning it all, seems very high right now.
At-Large Battle - The MPSF is in an interesting spot where 3 teams are all trying to get into the tournament. UCLA is basically a guarantee at this point. The coaches like USC but the numbers favor Pepperdine. These two teams finish their season with a home-and-home series next weekend. Whoever comes out on top is likely to get an at-large bid. Then you have the MIVA. If Ball State closes out its season with two more wins this week AND ends up losing the MIVA tournament, they might throw a monkey wrench into the selection committee’s gears. Only time will tell, but there is a possibility for drama there.
IVA - This will never happen. I get it. But I want the IVA to have a spot in the national tournament. Lincoln Memorial is a top 25 team, easy. They are probably a top 20 team. I know there are only 12 spots, but I want to see a Lincoln Memorial get into a bracket and cause some havoc. It’s just a dream, but it’s not the wildest idea out there.
