VBelo Rankings - Top 25
3 Quick Observations
Outrigger - This tournament gets a ton of attention (including from me), but it makes sense. This year, we will get to see the VBelo #1, #4, #13, and #22 go at it. If this was men’s college basketball (using Kenpom of course), this would be equivalent to Duke, Florida, Vanderbilt, and BYU. Yes, it’s that good.
MIVA Separation - We are starting to see Lindenwood get some distance at the top of the MIVA. This can change fast, but right now, they are in the driver’s seat. With the MIVA tournament rewarding the top four seeds with a home court match, keep an eye out for the battle for the 4th spot. Everyone wants to play at home, especially in the postseason.
Don’t Sleep on the NEC - Two of the top 3 teams to gain the most elo last week were in the NEC: Manhattan (+94) and LIU (+77). This is a conference that is going to be an absolute battle. When looking at their groupings right now, 1-3 and 4-6 are super tightly bunched (see below). This is going to lead to some potential upsets down the road and some great volleyball.

KPI Time
RPI is terrible. I will die on this hill. KPI is better…probably? It is much more mysterious but does take into account more data points. In doing some research for the Outrigger, I realized that Faktor, the controlling company of KPI, has updated numbers for 2026. I know some of you out there will definitely be interested in these, particularly if you are wondering about criteria the NCAA Men’s Volleyball Committee uses to select at-large bids.
