Tons of matches today. I tried to catch some cancellations and schedule changes but I may have missed some. Buckle up, because we have thousands of points worth of volleyball today.
Number of the Day
94 - UCLA and Ohio State combined for 94 points in Set 2 yesterday. This is the most points in a set in the rally scoring era! This match has ridiculous numbers for a 3 set match. Like Andrew Rowan (UCLA) having 52 assists (17.33 per set). Or both teams combining for 215 attacks! This is the volleyball of legends.
Yesterday’s Scores
Non-conference
Roosevelt (30%) def. Barton (70%)
3-1 (25-17, 25-23, 21-25, 32-30)
Huge win for Roosevelt. How did they pull it off? Free pizza. I’m not saying you are guaranteed to win if you give people pizza…but I will let the numbers speak for themselves.
Queens (59%) def. Charleston (41%)
3-1 (25-15, 25-22, 21-25, 25-23)
UCLA (86%) def. Ohio State (14%)
3-0 (25-21, 48-46, 25-20)
People will be talking about Set 2 for ages. And they should!
BYU (49%) def. UC Santa Barbara (51%)
3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 26-24)
Good match, but BYU performed well on the road. This bodes well for the Cougars as this is the first of 5 straight away matches.
