Yesterday, Thomas More University announced the cancellation of their men’s volleyball program at the conclusion of the 2026 season. There is a lot more to say about this (thank you to those who have reached out already), but let’s just start with this is terrible news. Growing the game is tough and a loss of any team is a loss to us all. We will miss the Saints but we all get the chance to cheer for them before they are taken away from us.
Number of the Day
1 - I had to go back and check the tape on this one. Libero Bobby Clapp (Barry) had a remarkable stat line. He led the Bucs with 9 digs in the sweep. The remarkable part is that the stat sheet has him with 1 solo block. I wanted so badly for this to be real somehow, but alas, looking at the match video, it is a mistake. I’m very torn between wanting completely accurate stats and having something amazing like this in existence forever.
Yesterday’s Scores
Non-conference

3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-22)
Barry has now won every season opening match in program history (2). Sure this isn’t a ton, but starting off the season with a win is a great thing.
Today’s Match Projections

FDU@NYU is typically a scrimmage. Thanks for the shout.
