Number of the Day
1 - UCLA has been the #1 team, according to the AVCA Coaches’ Poll, all season. For VBelo, they have held the top spot for the majority for the season. But not all ranking systems are the same…looking at you RPI. Despite the best record in the country, UCLA is second in RPI. Why? Opponent’s winning percentage. This is 25% of the total RPI ranking and UCLA ranks 8th in this category. KPI is more nuanced so UCLA has been able to stay on top, but just barely.1 The good news for UCLA is that finishing the season against BYU will help bring RPI and KPI up. Regardless, the path to the #1 overall seed is ripe for the taking for the Bruins, no matter what RPI says.

Today’s Match Projections
This week is all about the weekend. The beginning of the week is mental preparation for fans.
As of writing, KPI had not been updated with Sunday’s matches. There is a fairly good chance that Hawaii has the slight edge for the first part of this week.
